Alaska Disney Cruise

Glaciers, humpback whales, bald eagles, and Gold Rush history — Alaska is arguably the most spectacular Disney Cruise destination.

The Alaska Experience

The Disney Wonder sails 7-night Alaska Inside Passage itineraries from Vancouver, BC every summer. These are some of the most bucket-list sailings in the entire DCL fleet — and they book out faster than almost any other itinerary.

What makes Alaska different: the scenery is the destination. Even sea days are extraordinary as the ship navigates through fjords and channels with near-vertical mountains rising from the water. Glacier viewing, wildlife spotting from the ship itself, and the wild authenticity of Southeast Alaska towns are unlike any Caribbean or Bahamas experience.

Alaska is particularly popular with families who have older children and teens — the adventure activities (hiking, wildlife tours, Gold Rush history) resonate with an older age group.

Alaska Ports of Call

🦅

Juneau, Alaska

Alaska's capital — accessible only by sea or air. The must-do is Mendenhall Glacier, a massive living glacier that you can walk right up to (the visitor center is free; the hike to the glacier face is stunning). Whale watching excursions from Juneau are world-class.

Top Tips
💡 Book whale watching in advance — fills up months early
💡 Mendenhall Glacier visitor center is free; the hike costs nothing
💡 Mount Roberts Tramway offers panoramic views over the city
⛏️

Skagway, Alaska

A perfectly preserved Gold Rush town at the gateway to the Klondike. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway is the must-do — a historic narrow-gauge train that climbs 3,000 feet through stunning mountain scenery. Downtown Skagway is small and walkable with Gold Rush-era buildings.

Top Tips
💡 White Pass Railway books up very early — book at DCL booking window opening
💡 The town is extremely walkable — you don't need a tour to enjoy it
💡 Gold Rush National Historical Park is free and fascinating
🐟

Ketchikan, Alaska

The 'salmon capital of the world' — and it earns the title. Creek Street is Ketchikan's historic boardwalk district built over Ketchikan Creek, where you can watch salmon returning to spawn in season. The world's largest collection of standing totem poles is here at Totem Bight State Park.

Top Tips
💡 Misty Fjords seaplane or boat tour is spectacular if weather cooperates
💡 Bear viewing excursions available — one of the best in Southeast Alaska
💡 It rains more in Ketchikan than anywhere else in Alaska — pack accordingly

What to Pack for Alaska

Sunscreen (yes, still needed)
Gloves and a warm hat

Nice to Have
